Join artemis and artist Atlas Thomas for an all day mosaics workshop in which old unclaimed ceramics are decorated with broken glazed pottery in a mosaic fashion to repurpose the abandoned works into a planter.
During our midday break, refreshments will be served and together we will create space to transform feelings, thoughts and stored emotion that surround the theme of alchemy and reclamation. Art therapist Danielle Chalmers will facilitate an afternoon practice for engagement. You can also bring a yoga mat to rest while your piece dries or a journal to write.
This workshop is aimed at those with little to no creative outlet in their daily lives and those who are new to art as medicine. Our day long offering is funded through the Laundromat Project Create Change grant. We are honored to offer this FREE workshop to our community.
Atlas finds joy these days in bringing every day objects into the creative scene, and supporting every day New Yorkers in finding a creative outlet.
